My views on JCR and my editorial
philosophy were outlined in the prior issue of the journal (March
1999, volume 25, number 4). I will now begin receiving manuscripts
July 1 and take over all editorial responsibilities January 1,
2000.
Guidance to Authors
Authors must submit five copies
of their manuscripts and a 3 1/2-inch computer diskette in
Microsoft Word or WordPerfect to the Journal of Consumer Research
at the address shown below. The computer diskette is being
requested in addition to the copies of the manuscript that have
traditionally been required because it is expected that the
diskette will permit more rapid communication between the
associate editor and editor and help speed the review process.
Detailed instructions regarding the manuscript style and
submission requirements are in the JCR style sheet, which
appears in this issue of the journal.
New manuscripts submitted on or
after July 1, 1999, should be sent to:

Revised manuscripts should be
sent to Ohio State University through October 31, 1999. Beginning
November 1, 1999, all new and revised manuscripts should be sent
to the University of Wisconsin address.
Authors are welcome to submit a
brief list of individuals whom they do not want as reviewers, and
they may also suggest the names of the associate editor and
reviewers they consider most appropriate for their manuscript.
Brief explanations should accompany these suggestions. While it
cannot be guaranteed that author recommendations will be followed,
they will be taken into consideration.
