Common Mistakes
There are several items that need double checking (sometimes missed by authors in their final materials).
1) Citations and References. Please make sure you have a reference for every citation and a citation for every reference (no extras of either one).
2) Length of Abstract. Please make sure your abstract is between 100 and 150 words (no longer).
3) Page numbers in references. Please make sure you use the 148-58 format (not 148-158). If the first digit in the second number is the same as the first digit in the first number, delete the first digit in the second number.
4) "Eds." in references. "Ed." stands for "edited by." Please do not use "eds." in the references.
5) Footnotes. JCR style is no footnotes, so please work them into the text. If you wish to add supplemental material, please create a supplement for the online-only version. If you wish to thank someone for something, please do it in the author note.
6) Missing headings list. The last page of your manuscript is the headings list. Please see the style sheet for more information.
7) Complete first names. We need complete first names for all authors and editors in the references. Please look them up in PsychInfo if necessary.
8) Figures should appear both in the manuscript and as separate files.
9) Figures need to be formatted properly. Please make sure you are providing files in bitmap mode at a resolution of 800 (please read the instructions).
10) Publication Agreements (new). Corresponding authors are now responsible for making sure all authors have provided their publication agreements, and they must be received prior to our sending your final materials to the publisher for publication. Please make sure the top and bottom portions are filled out (some authors are forgetting the top portion).
11) Individual files must be sent in one email message. Please make sure you send ALL of your files in one email message (nothing zipped or compressed). Publication agreements may be faxed separately.
12) Title of article. Please add the title of the article at the beginning of your nontechnical summary and author packet files.
